GOP–All Aboard for Iowa!

ProgressiveFeb2016LoResnblgFor the February cover of The Progressive, I was asked to showcase 5 of the GOP presidential candidates, Trump, Cruz, Carson, Rubio, and Bush. The theme was the republican campaign trail leading up to the Iowa primary and the concept was wide open– I wanted to come up with a fun image and not be too literal. After a whole lot of sketching and brainstorming, this idea popped into my head as I awoke one morning. Big thank you to art director Kerstin Diehn! Detail images below…

UCR Baseball’s new Skipper–Troy Percival

troypercival_finalblog

For UCR’s fall issue, the Alumni profile is former California Angels pitching great Troy Percival. After retiring from the Major Leagues, Troy has come back to his old stomping grounds at UC Riverside to take the helm as head baseball coach for the Highlanders.

Westchester Hangover

permissiveparentfinal_blogThis Westchester Magazine illustration went with an article “Just What is Permissive Parenting? Is being the “chill” mom or “hip” dad what your child needs– or even wants?” Over the course of being an editorial illustrator, I’ve learned a little bit about a whole lot of different subject matter–and in the case of this article, I learned that a Coke and Advil is a good hangover remedy. Not that I’m eager to try it out but it’s good to know just in case. Thanks art directors Halina Sabath and Tykischa Jacobs.

Coaches of the Year

Here’s a trio of portraits I recently did for Rider University’s alumni magazine. The subjects are three Rider coaches: Kevin Baggett–basketball, Barry Davis–baseball, and Stephen Fletcher–swimming and diving–who had all won MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) Coach of the Year honors for 2014-15. The portraits accompanied a Q and A article. Thank you art director Buddy Losavio for using me for this project.
